SYRACUSE, NY – Syracuse University awarded three $60,000 scholarships to international students who were nominated by their EducationUSA advisors. The scholarship winners will receive $15,000 per year, for four years.
Established in 2014, the scholarship provides international students the opportunity to pursue a degree at Syracuse University, a top-60 U.S. institution that promotes interdisciplinary study and academic flexibility. The scholarship demonstrates the University’s appreciation for EducationUSA advising centers and the services they provide.
“Nearly 14,000 students from more than 130 countries attend Syracuse University,” said Nancy Rothschild, associate dean of admissions. “By collaborating with others from different places and perspectives, and learning from and conducting groundbreaking research with our faculty, our scholarship winners will be ready to succeed in their chosen field.”
2014 scholarship recipients include:
- Ethel Benichou, France; majoring in communication and rhetorical studies
- Jessica Casero Lopez, Mexico, majoring in architecture
- Nachanan Mekto, Thailand, majoring in marketing
To be eligible for the 2015 scholarship, students must apply to the University by the January 1 application deadline. Additionally, their EducationUSA advisors must nominate them via a description of their accomplishments by February 15. Invitations to nominate students will be emailed to advisors in December.
