Barcelona, an unbelievably gorgeous city, was my first traveling experience outside of London. With 60 degree weather all weekend long, sunny, clear skies and playing by the beach, I wondered how at all possible this is in February! But the weird thing was that we still saw many people walking around in parkas and scarves…I guess there is the culture difference for you.
Barcelona has some beautiful sites to see like La Segrada Familia which is a beautiful Roman Catholic Basilica. Las Ramblas is a very touristy area with lots of shops and street vendors surrounded by a gorgeous view of the city. Baroque Market was a fun food-filled marketplace in Las Ramblas with everything from unique meats and seafood to scrumptious desserts and yummy all-fruit smoothies. But I loved Park Guell because the view at the top of this huge park is absolutely stunning: you can see the entire city when you look down. And you take outside escalators to get to the top of it!
However, my favorite part about the trip was the Spanish food. Tapas and paella. The paella was okay but the tapas: best meal I’ve had in Europe so far! If you ever get a chance to travel to Spain, choose Barcelona. I promise you won’t regret it.
