As a Graphic Design major, you’ll study visual communications from a multi-dimensional perspective. You’ll create distinctive visual designs as you study typography, layout, color, movement, space, and visual hierarchy, becoming a communicator and a problem solver in every phase of production. You’ll also build skills in multimedia as you work on websites, design interactive solutions, work with print design, and create photos and videos.
Graphic Design majors have access to the latest in digital tools. Design classes are project-oriented. You’ll learn to work individually and in teams to address client needs with both online and print solutions. Each class contributes to your growing portfolio of work which will demonstrate your skill and accomplishments in design.

You can enhance your skills with electives like virtual reality or video editing, or learn more about advertising, public relations, or magazine.
Graphic Design majors can be found at student-run media organizations, such as the Daily Orange newspaper, 18 magazines, Citrus TV station, three radio stations, and PR and advertising agencies, as well as non-media organizations, designing websites and providing design support for a wide range of student activities. Designers also have the opportunity to develop their skills in professional settings through internships in Syracuse and throughout the country during the summer.
